AWARD CATEGORIES

Audio Engineering Award (formerly Engineer of the Year)

  • Definition - This is awarded to the engineer. International product qualifies, as long as the engineer is western Canadian. This award recognizes excellence in audio engineering including in the studio or on the stage. The award is open to but not limited to venue or touring front of house or monitor technicians, studio tracking engineers, mixing engineers, and digital audio engineers. The recipient will demonstrate dedication and excellence in the field of audio engineering as demonstrated through their work. Submissions can include audio recordings or testimonials or both. This may include one or multiple production projects.
  • Eligibility – The nominated person must reside in and be a registered business in western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities within one year of the submission deadline.
 

 Community Excellence Award (New Category)

  • Definition – This award recognises an artist, group, or music company that demonstrates a commitment to giving back to the community or to charity(s) including contributions to a local neighbourhood initiative, a global cause, or to the broader music community. Social engagement should be displayed on an ongoing basis. Testimonials, past achievements, ongoing projects will all be included in this submission.
  • Eligibly - The nominated person or company must reside in and be a registered business in western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities within one year of the submission deadline.

 

 Excellence in Visual Design (formerly Album Design of the Year)

  • Definition - Visual design makes a specific contribution to the branding and marketing of music. This award recognizes excellence in visual design including album packaging, merchandise, show posters, web and social media design. This award recognises a visual designer or design firm for their work with one or more artists across various media.
  • Eligibility – The nominated person or company must be based in Western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities within one year of the submission deadline.

 

 Impact in Artist Development (formerly Agency of the Year, Manager of the Year, and Independent Label of the Year)

  • Definition - This award recognizes companies or individuals from western Canada who have had a significant impact on an artist’s career within the eligibility period. The award is open to but not limited to artist managers, labels, agents, and publishers, including individuals, teams, or companies. The recipient will have demonstrated particular accomplishments in advancing the career(s) of an artist or roster of artists.
  • Eligibility – The nominated person or company must reside in and be a registered business in western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities within one year of the submission deadline.

 

 Impact in Live Music (formerly Live Music Venue of the Year and Talent Buyer of the Year)

  • Definition - This award recognizes companies or individuals who have had a significant impact on the live music scene in western Canada within the eligibility period. This award is open to, but not limited to, agents, promoters, presenters, buyers, venues and festivals. The recipient will have demonstrated accomplishments in live music such as innovative programming, record-breaking attendance, meeting a specific community need. Consideration will be given to the promotion of western Canadian artists, the historical and cultural value of the applicant institution to the industry and the community, cooperation between the applicant and artists, and overall public participation.
  • Eligibility – The nominated person or company must reside in and/or be a registered business in western Canada. Venues and festivals must be in western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities within one year of the submission deadline.

 

 Impact in Music Marketing (New Category)

  • Definition - This award recognizes innovation, creative thinking, and hard work in the music industry in western Canada. The award is open to but not limited to people and companies working in PR, marketing, radio tracking, digital distribution, app development and technology. The recipient will demonstrate success through dedication to the western Canadian music industry and demonstrating new ways of doing business.
  • Eligibility – The nominated individual or company must reside in and be a registered business in western Canada. Submissions will be judged on activities and/or products completed within one year of the submission deadline.
