These short, scheduled meetings give attendees the opportunity to connect directly with hand-selected industry professionals. Each meeting is 8 minutes long, with a 2-minute break between meetings. It’s a great opportunity to break the ice, introduce yourself, exchange contact information, and make a connection you can follow up with after the conference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can book 1×1 Meetings?
Anyone who has registered for the Breakout West conference can book meetings. If you registered other folks through your account, you can also book meetings on their behalf.
How many meetings can I book?
To ensure everyone has an opportunity to connect, please book no more than eight meetings per person.
Can I book multiple meetings with the same mentor?
We kindly ask that you avoid booking back-to-back time slots with the same mentor.
How long is each meeting?
Each meeting is 8 minutes long, with a 2 minute break before the next meeting.
Where do the meetings take place?
These meetings will take place at the Victoria Conference Center, in the conference room ‘Oak Bay 2’.
Can I cancel a meeting?
Yes. To cancel a meeting, sign into your account and visit the ‘My Meetings’ page. Open the meeting you want to cancel, and select ‘Cancel Meeting’. Please cancel as soon as possible so the time can become available again.
What if I registered other people?
Anyone registered through your account will appear in the booking form’s ‘Meeting With’ dropdown. You can select the appropriate person when booking each meeting. Please remember that the eight-meeting maximum applies to each individual.
What if my name, or another one of my team’s name, is missing?
If a name your expecting does not appear in the dropdown, it could be because that person has not been registered through your account or their registration type is not eligible to book meetings. If you believe someone should be listed, please contact us through the contact form on our website.
What is the ‘artist profile’ option?
If you are a performing artist, you may see an optional dropdown that allows you to select your artist profile to display. Your name will still appear on the booking, but it will link to your artist profile so the industry professional can learn more about you. At this time, there is no delegate profile option.
How to Book a 1×1 Meeting
Step 1: Log in to your account
If you have already registered for Breakout West, log in to your account. If you haven’t registered, you’ll have to be registered in order to book meetings. After you’ve logged in, you’ll be taken to your account page, where you can access both the ‘Open Meetings’ and ‘My Meetings’ pages.
Step 2: Find an available meeting
Visit the ‘Open Meetings’ page. Use the search and filtering options to explore available industry professionals and find a meeting time that works for you.
To learn more about an industry professional, click on their meeting to view their photo and profile information.
Step 3: Book your meeting
Once you find an available meeting, you’ll see a booking form with your name, or the names of attendees registered through your account, in a dropdown menu. Select a registrant, and click Book! That’s it, your meeting is booked.
