Infest is an underground music & arts festival in Edmonton, AB. I like to refer to it as Tyson’s Opus! It’s is a collection of his passions, everything he has been working for in the music industry, everything he has learned, his accomplishments, his failures, everything has amounted to this festival!
What is success for your organization in the coming year?
Growth. We are still only a year old, this August is our second festival, as long as we are growing we are successful.
What are you currently excited about in the music industry?
The youth. I’m talking high schoolers… In Edmonton we have an amazing group of young musicians & promoters. The scene they are creating is incredible. Edmonton is on the verge of a cultural explosion, it is absolutely inspiring to see what this young group of individuals are creating!
What is the greatest challenge you face currently, and how can other industry and artists partners help?
Jeeeesh. So many challenges. Our dollar, our location. We would love to build a partnership with the City of Edmonton, as our festival brings in so many people from all over the globe, spending money in our downtown core.
Unfortunately, and I’m not really too sure how to word this, but the government (City, Provincial & Federal), the nonprofits that are setup to aid festivals, musicians, tourism, all the powers that be, tend to get scared off when it comes to Heavy Metal, they don’t seem to understand, or want to learn about the culture, the tourism & the economic boost a festival like ours brings to Edmonton, Alberta & Canada
