Hope Slide is an art-rock band from Vancouver, BC that began as a recording project between film school students turned songwriters Calvin Jay and Zane Klassen. In efforts to explore their cathartic, score-like sound, the band evolved into the group that it is today — a five-member, multi-instrumentalist collaboration featuring strings and horns, fronted by Jay and Elena Massing. Together, they have toured across Canada, being billed with other critically-acclaimed indie rock artists like Panchiko, Friko, and Packaging.
Their debut EP “Love Your Crooked Neighbour With Your Crooked Heart” — produced at Rain City Recorders in East Vancouver — explores loss and forgiveness against the backdrop of a defrosting, late-winter Pacific Northwest. Dubbed "a sideways look at love" by The Georgia Straight, the band's multiple vocalists and instruments evoke the imagery of two estranged lovers locked in wistful conversation.
With a follow-up EP and national tour dates slated for 2027, Hope Slide are quietly emerging as one of Western Canada's most dynamic new voices.
