Quoia States

With a voice that bridges cultures and genres, Halifax-based Jamaican-Canadian singer/songwriter Quoia States is redefining Atlantic Canada's contemporary Pop sound. Her music blends Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop, creating soulful, genre-bending songs rooted in identity, resilience, and authenticity.
Born in Toronto's Jane & Finch community and raised in Halifax, NS, Quoia States draws from her Jamaican heritage and lived experiences to create music that connects across cultures. Known for her captivating stage presence and emotionally honest songwriting, she is quickly establishing herself as one of Atlantic Canada's promising emerging artists.
In 2025, Quoia closed the Nova Scotia Music Week Main Stage and performed at Magnetic World Festival, Lil Mosey Live in Halifax, and the ANSMA Canada Day Concert. In 2026, she has continued that momentum with performances at NovaFest, ANSMA's ECMA Black Vibes Showcase, the TD Halifax Jazz Festival Main Stage, Moonlight Bazaar, Saint John, NB (where she opened for the legendary K-OS), and Crescendo Fest.
A recipient of the 2024 ANSMA Portia White Youth Award, Quoia has earned multiple ANSMA nominations, including Emerging Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Album/EP of the Year.
Her latest single, “Grey,” is a heartfelt Pop anthem about healing, resilience, and self-discovery. Inspired by the lingering smoke after a fire, the song explores how life's challenges leave lasting impressions while reminding listeners that hope, growth, and strength can emerge through adversity.
With her upcoming EP, "Metanoia", Quoia is entering a new chapter, expanding her reach nationally while building international opportunities through powerful live performances, authentic storytelling, and a sound that resonates across cultures.
