BreakOut West 2025 takes place in Winnipeg, MB for the first time ever! This year’s event will feature four days of informative and engaging music industry conference content including international market deep dives, one-on-one meetings with music industry professionals, artist mentorship and feature conversations, networking events, and more. We wanted to give you a sneak peek at two sessions we are excited about at BreakOut West!
Sync or Swim
They are called SUPERvisors for a reason. These crossmedia industry moguls find opportunities for music to be used in movies, television, advertising, even video games. At BreakOut Wet 2025 we welcome a panel of some stupendous supervisors to help demystify the process of finding opportunities for synchronization. Submit your tracks to one of two sample briefs! We’ll play these on site and our panel will make their case for what syncs and swims!
BreakOut West Book Club
Enjou and Misfit Management are graciously letting BreakOut West play host to the upcoming round of their Music Book Club, and you are invited to participate!
The book is Mood Machine by Liz Pelly. An unsparing investigation into Spotify’s origins and influence on music, weaving unprecedented reporting with incisive cultural criticism, illuminating how streaming is reshaping music for listeners and artists alike.
We suggest you pick up a copy of the book, your local library is a great resource for this, or try a local bookstore if there are no copies available (it’s a popular book). If you would rather listen to an audiobook version, that would be great, too! Even if you don’t finish the book, you are still welcome to attend and participate.
Feedforward
Send us your songs! Producers of all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged to put forward the fruits of their creative labour to be absolutely loved and supported by their peers. This is a positive-feedback only zone, no need to be constructive; kick that imposter syndrome, if your track is selected, it’s good! Producers who submit will have an opportunity to share a bit about themselves, their song, and then have an opportunity to be encouraged, adored, and supported by a panel of their peers, who just so happen to be the purveyors of the Good + Plenty Producer’s Club. The event is open to non-submitters as well, just sit back, relax, and listen deeply to the songs. Listeners will have an opportunity to chime in as well, but just a reminder, good vibes only! This is an awesome opportunity to grow your community of encouraging producers, show your work in a non-judgmental space, and be creatively inspired—maybe you’ll even find someone new you want to collaborate with!
