BreakOut West Thrilled to Partner with Australian Music Week

BreakOut West is partnering with Australian Music Week (AMW) to feature the first international artists performing as part of the festival in this collaborative initiative. This partnership offers reciprocal business opportunities and provides access to new markets for Western Canadian and Australian exporting artists

Australian artists, Letters to Lions and Winterbourne, will be featured in the mix alongside other festival acts, marking the first-time BreakOut West has welcomed artists from outside western Canada. Both will showcase at the festival, take in the conference, and work with Canadian artists and industry to create mutually beneficial relationships.

In 2016, three western Canadian artists participated in Australian Music Week under the banner of BreakOut West. Poor Nameless Boy, Sarah MacDougall, and Youngblood each saw success through the effort, resulting in songwriting partnerships, tour dates being booked and several career developments within the music industry in Australia. In addition, BreakOut West discovered some remarkable local talent while at Australian Music Week, and, witnessing the benefits Canadian artists gained from the partnership, extended the trade between organizations to include Australian artists and music industry members coming to Canada for BreakOut West.

ECMA, CIMA, and BreakOut West are also excited to partner with Australian Music Week to give the opportunity for six artists (two from each Canadian Music Industry Association) to submit to perform at Australian Music Week festival and conference in New South Wales, Australia, November 1-5, 2017. Submissions open until July 17, 2017.
