Featured Artist - Fold Paper

Fold Paper is the post-punk brainchild of Chell Osuntade. Over the past 5 years Chell has built up a name for himself while touring with bands like JayWood and Super Duty Tough Work. Eventually, Chell decided it was time to create a band that would continue to carry his aura while also showing a new side of his musical creativity.  Follow Fold Paper on instagram.

1. What is the coolest show you have ever played?

Fold Paper got the opportunity to perform for Sled Island festival in Calgary, AB. Sled Island was one of the most put-together and fulfilling festivals that Fold Paper has ever been a part of. The same would go for the Block Party slot that FP was given on Saturday evening. We got to open for one of my idols (Cola) and got to meet a plethora of other bands. I can’t wait to do it again.

2. How do you keep yourself healthy and happy working in music?

As an artist, I believe that ingesting music, whether it be finding new songs, listening to old ones, or going to a show does a lot for me in keeping myself healthy and healthy as a musician. As long as I’m surrounding myself with music, I’m always learning and connecting.

3. What is the biggest challenge you've experienced in getting to where you are?

The biggest challenge for me has been learning about how MUCH MONEY EVERYTHING TAKES. Recording music, practicing with your band, getting what you need together to have a good show, releasing music, playing a festival, and I could go on. Thankfully, there are lots of grant opportunities that’ll cover some of what you need but even then…yeesh.

4. What is the best part of your life that isn't music related?

Honestly, aside from my girlfriend, playing video games. I love video games. I’m an avid Fortnite player. I also play Call of Duty, Overwatch, whatever is going around the gaming community.

5. What is the best advice you have been given in the music business?

The best advice I’ve been given is to make as many connections as you can. You never know who’ll help you out in whatever way you may need it one day. You can’t do this music thing all alone.
