Featured Organization - Moments Fest
Founded by Siksika punk band No More Moments in 2015, this festival started as a way to bring live music to the land. Now a 2-day event at the Siksika Pow Wow Arbor campground, Moments Fest blends music, arts, and cultural programming on Blackfoot/Treaty 7 land.
The festival has featured acts like Cancer Bats, Eamon McGrath, Wake, and Dayglo Abortions while prioritizing Indigenous musicians. It creates space for new bands to play and fosters connections across the country.
As one of the few Indigenous-led music festivals on First Nation land, Moments Fest invites attendees to experience the land where Treaty 7 was signed in 1877

What is success for your organization in the coming year?
We at Moments Fest define success as fostering inclusivity and empowerment through music. The more our community is engaged and our culture is embraced, the more we achieve our mission. Success means creating opportunities for Indigenous and emerging artists, strengthening connections across the country, and ensuring Moments Fest remains a space where music, culture, and community thrive together. It’s about growing our impact, welcoming more bands and attendees, and continuing to showcase the richness of Blackfoot/Treaty 7 land.
What are you currently excited about in the music industry?
What excites us most in the music industry is seeing more diversity, inclusion, and community engagement. The growing presence of people of color, LGBTQ+ artists, and grassroots movements is creating a more vibrant and representative scene. We love seeing music become a platform for voices that have long been overlooked, bringing new perspectives and energy to the industry. Moments Fest is all about fostering these connections and celebrating the power of music to unite and uplift communities
What is the greatest challenge you face currently, and how can other industry and artists partners help?
One of our biggest challenges is securing financial support. More access to grants and funding would allow us to expand Moments Fest, improve infrastructure, and create more opportunities for artists. Industry partners can help by connecting us with funding resources, sponsorships, and grant opportunities. Support in areas like marketing, production, and artist outreach would also strengthen our ability to grow while keeping the festival accessible and community-driven
Can you give a shout out to an artist or industry member who is also doing great things?
Shoutout to the incredible organizations and artists pushing for truly inclusive festivals and shows! Huge respect to Sled Island, Purple City, Alternative Waves, The Canadian Music Initiative, Massif Fest, Concert Works, and F7 Entertainment—just to name a few. Along with amazing artists like 1876, Amy Nelson, Citizen Rage, Iron Tusk, and Quit It, this is just a small part of the many people making a difference. So many are working hard to create spaces where diverse artists and communities can thrive, and we’re honored to be part of this movement. Keep doing what you do!
