COVID Policy and Resources
WCMA / BreakOut West are excited to welcome our community back to live programming for BreakOut West 2022, Winnipeg, February 2-6. We recognise that not all members of our community will be able to attend in person, and will offer all conference programming online at a reduced registration cost. Whether joining online or in person, we look forward to celebrating with you and diving into music discovery and artist and industry development.
The health and the safety of our audiences, artists, members, delegates, speakers, volunteers, fans, staff, and all of their families is our top priority. Manitoba Public Health orders require all attendees of venues, restaurants, bars, and indoor gatherings such as conferences, to present valid proof of vaccination (Immunization Card or comparable record of vaccination from your health region) and government issued photo ID to enter. BreakOut West is committed to following this procedure, for the safety of our artists, staff, and audience, the continuity of our planning, and the long-term sustainability of our industry.
Our policy includes the following details:
-
Proof of full vaccination (two doses plus two weeks) in the form of a Government issued vaccine card, QR code, or printing vaccine record, is required for all staff, volunteers, artists, mentors, guests, patrons, and other participants aged 12 and older.
-
WCMA and venues will not store or share any health information beyond verification for the purpose of the event.
-
WCMA will not tolerate anyone who insults, harasses, or otherwise interferes with others on the basis of vaccination status or a similar matter.
-
Staff will make efforts to accommodate unvaccinated project participants through online programming offerings.
-
All other safety protocols including masks and distancing must be followed regardless of vaccination status.
-
In the case of a government approved medical exemption from vaccination, proof of exemption is required, as well as a negative rapid antigen test result administered no later than 24 hours prior, or a negative PCR test result completed within 72 hours prior, at the cost of the participant. Proof of negative testing will NOT be considered as an alternative to proof of vaccination without a valid medical exemption.
Additional FAQs
Q. What happens if we are no longer allowed to travel to the event?
If public health restrictions in Winnipeg, or in your home city/country are such that travel is not advised or permitted, registration deferrals or refunds will be offered. Hotel cancellations details are available on hotel websites.
We encourage all flight travel to be booked with a travel agent when possible so that they can follow and support any unforeseen changes. This said, WCMA cannot be responsible for any costs of cancellation of hotel or flight details.
Q. What Covid protocols will be in place onsite?
We are operating under the Province of Manitoba guidelines for venue capacities, mask and proof of vaccination requirements. These regulations are changing on an ongoing basis and we will keep all registered delegates informed as changes arise.
